Jacob Doughty is a patent attorney and partner at Oblon. Jacob is deputy managing partner of the firm and co-leader of the firm’s chemical practice group.
Jacob’s practice includes all areas of US patent law with an emphasis on patent prosecution and management, client counseling, opinion work, and due diligence in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology arts.
Jacob also has significant experience in post-grant proceedings before the USPTO and litigation, including arguing on behalf of his clients before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has frequently counseled clients with respect to patent term extension under the Hatch-Waxman Act and has filed numerous patent term extension applications. Jacob has also testified on behalf of his clients in district court litigation on multiple occasions.
Jacob received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and law degree from Washington & Lee University.
