Dan Pereira is a partner, Co-Head of the firm’s Chemical Patent Prosecution group and member of the Life Sciences practice group. His practice focuses on client counseling, portfolio management, patent prosecution, litigation and interference involving a wide range of technologies including: recombinant DNA technology, genetics, immunology, enzymology, medical diagnostics, bioinformatics, microarrays, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, nanotechnology, medical devices and optical and electronic devices. With a Ph.D. in Genetics from State University of New York at Stony Brook, and a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Earlham College, Dr. Pereira has particular experience in the medical, biotechnical and pharmaceutical fields.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Pereira worked as a post-doctoral research scientist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he conducted research in the fields of neurodegeneration and transgenic mouse models of human disease. While obtaining his degrees, he studied gene expression and gene therapy and performed research in the area of leukemia pathogenesis. Dr. Pereira received his Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School.
